Just a couple of observations for today and the weekend in terms of water clarity and weather in the region.

Weather guys and gals never seem to be able to make up their minds - checking several different weather services just now (1020 AM) it appears Yellowstone and south central Montana have a 30 to 40% percent chance of rain for the next two days.  Showers have already formed this morning in northeast Idaho and are moving across YNP (southern) and the Tetons, and across the Madison and Gallatin valleys - looks like the chances for rain are already higher than they forecast.

With the rains across the region yesterday, flows had already bumped a bit on Soda Butte (o945 reading) and the Lamar (0915 reading), as well as on the Gallatin as far down as Gallatin Gateway (the 0645 reading).  More rain today is going to at least stain these waters and pending rain volumes may muddy them up.  Obviously the Soda Butte and Lamar will potentially impact the Stone - the Electric Peak Coolworks web cam view looks a bit stained at 1027, but the light is flat given the cloud cover and smoke and it makes it a bit difficult to be certain.

Consider your weekend plans thoughtfully, and we’ll update you as we gather more data.  We’re meeting a guy in West Yellowstone today and will eyeball things up there and report as we can.

Here’s to a good weekend.
