We’ve received a fair number of emails the last few days asking where the heck we’ve been - we got to talking about it around here and we’ve posted for the most part daily since last July, and folks have gotten used to seeing at least a “quote of the day” up on the blog.

We’re not independently wealthy, aren’t trust-funders, and didn’t marry rich spouses - so those of us who maintain the site have to engage with the real world a bit.  We’re actually madly finishing the web presence for a company we own and manage - Redfish Emerging Markets.  We’re a real estate data company that focuses on identifying, tracking, and analyzing emerging (read recovering) real estate markets around the country.  The company is privately held and has been used by friends and co-investors for several years, and we elected last fall to make our product available to the general real estate investing public, a process which has been a bit more of an undertaking than we anticipated.  We can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and we’ll be back to mostly daily posting shortly - Jake has some entertaining video he’s going to post today.

We’ve been so busy with some of the final details (hardcopy expanded newsletter/magazine publication, data store on the site, etc.) that we’ve haven’t fished in five days - something of a record for us.  It’s a bit nippy here in Bozeman today - 32 at noon, with a brisk west wind gusting to nearly 30, and wind chills in the mid 20’s, so we haven’t minded being trapped by the project for some of this week.   High temps are not due to top 40 here in Bozeman for the next 3 days - and there’s snow in the forecast every day - so maybe we’ll just grind it out and be ready to fish a bit more next week….

In fact it’s been a bit snowy - 10 inches at Big Sky in the past 48 hours, and 11 inches at Bridger in the past 24 hours.  We’ve had snow on the ground in Bozeman last night and again this morning - even had to put the Jeep in 4WD to get around early today.  We’re all thankful for the snowpack, but the spring fishing itch is spreading through the natives like an eastern Montana grass fire in August.  (We ran up to fish Bear Trap last Saturday and the parking lot was overflowing - there was one other car up there the Sunday before…).   We haven’t check the Nortel site in a few days - we’ll report on the region’s snowpack here before long.

Thanks for your patience, and we’ll be back in the spring fishing swing here before long…..
