The Gallatin River has been fishing fairly well in the Park; she’s cleared dramatically in the past week or 10 days, and while still a bit high and somewhat cold, things have been coming around nicely. We’ve been on the upper river off the Bighorn trail a couple of times this season already. Stoneflies have made a late debut below the Park; we’ve heard the best taking has been north of Big Sky and below Taylor Fork, though below Taylor clarity definitely changes a great deal. As always the upper Gallatin offers great fishing with very little pressure.
We have maybe a week until dry fly action is really great, but nymphs and small buggers are starting to get some action.
Flows today (0600) at Gallatin Gatway are 2020 cfs, with today’s average 1270 cfs.
