I love Montana.  Love to fish.  And love to write.  So when the Best Fly Fishing Yellowstone crew asked me if I wanted to help them resurrect the site, my response went something like “When can we start?”

Some of my first memories are of curling up under the front seat storage in our old drift boat and sleeping during a rainy day out fishing on the Snake.  I probably spent as much time on the rivers as a kid, either in drift boats, rafts, or catarafts, as my friends did in organized sports.  I learned early on the best way to get a fly unhooked from your skin, and was tying my own flies before I was ten.  Most of my fishing life has been spent in the great Western rivers, except for a brief, albeit hot, stint fishing the tropical flats as well.  I am truly convinced there is nothing better than a quiet early morning out on the river, casting into the coming sunrise.

I used to make my living riding and training horses, a job which took me to Europe and all over the US.  For several years I was in the saddle so much I had very little time for fishing, much to my chagrin!  When I came back from Europe last fall, I took a look around Montana and thought to myself, this is insane.  I live in one of the best places to fly fish in the world and I am too busy to do it.  So I have taken a big step back from riding, and am thrilled to death to be on the rivers again, instead of in the saddle!

I’m living in Bozeman right now, a twenty-something young woman who loves to hike, backpack, snowshoe, bow hunt, raft, ride horses, and write.  That is, of course, when I am not out fishing!  I am looking forward very much to being a part of the Best Fly Fishing Yellowstone team, and am excited to help more women get out there and fish!
