Running to the Park yesterday Jess and I were amazed by two things driving along the Gallatin on the way to West Yellowstone.

First, there were stoneflies out all through the canyon and above Big Sky, and in fact seemed to be most dense around mile marker 40.  More than we’ve seen in a while, and covering a fair amount of mileage.

Secondly we were truly amazed at the number of fly fishers on the water - both sides of Big Sky and on up to almost the Park border - no question as to why.

We also saw two bears on the way into WY - a fairly large male cinammon griz just south of Specimen Creek, pretty danged close to the road for mid-afternoon.  We spied a smaller black loafing on a beaver dam along Grayling Creek.  Heads up on the bear front this year, and don’t forget the bear spray.
