We just got back from an evening run to the Gallatin Canyon , obviously not all the way to the Park section, though it was firsthand look at the water.
The river’s still stained a bit in the canyon, much improved from Saturday afternoon when Fan and Taylors Fork pumped all the mud in. We saw nothing on top this evening but hooked up with sculpins tailing lightning bugs. The river felt a little high to me, but flows have dropped back down to 422 cfs on the latest gauge read today (Gallatin Gateway) - things should continue to improve steadily, and the upper section in the Park should be all common sense be ready to go tomorrow.
