We’re pleased to have had such a great response to adding Henry’s Fork to the update list in northeastern Idaho last week;  for many a trip to the area just has to include a day or two on the Fork.

Water remains a hot topic in the West all season, and we’ve all been paying perhaps even more attention that in seasons past to water flows.  Flows today at Island Park (0730) were 819 cfs, the average for today 1010 cfs, with the 20% flow marker 779 cfs.

The Box Canyon - the Box is still fishing reasonably well, though as expected this time of year you’ll be happier working the morning and evening (a cloudy day has been pretty rare of late - though clouds will always stretch your productive fishing window).  We’ve been most productive fishing double nymph rigs with rubberlegs and beadheads, and have a buddy who has been cleaning up on olive Zonkers and Slump Busters.

Last Chance to Harriman - Things are still a challenge - somewhat inconsistent from day to day - not atypical for this time of year.
There are still waning hatches of PMDs, Callibaetis, Tricos, and Caddis, though terrestials (smaller hoppers) can work well in this area (run a dropper rig).   Be prepared and be creative.

Riverside CG to Ashton - In our mind, this stretch has been a bit more consistent than Harriman and Last Chance;  start with dry-dropper or hopper-dropper rig, or a double nymph as per the Box.  PMDs about done.
Again be ready for almost any hatch, and think terrestrials with dropper rigs or double nymph rigs if nothing is coming off.

Ashton and Points Downstream - Frankly we still wouldn’t fish this section until the weather cools off a bit more (hasn’t it been a nice cool week?) though very early mornings and later evenings might produce with a streamer / nymph trailer.  Follow water temps on the warmer afternoons.
