The LeHardy Wildland Fire burning north of Fishing Bridge has now burned 1795 acres by this morning’s Inciweb update. The section of the Grand Loop that was closed is now open again (no stopping); though you could be delayed by helicopter water drops. There’s a red flag warning for the day today – could be interesting on the fire line.
The Cascade Wildland Fire burning 6 miles west of Red Lodge has consumed 10,071 acres and is pretty active according to this morning’s report. Moderate spotting has continued in the high winds, more of which are due today. They’re working hard to protect structure around the ski resort.
The Gunbarrel Wildland Fire burning 40 miles west of Cody has not been updated in twelve hours or so; it has burned 9560 acres. They are working structure protection along the North Fork of the Shoshone as we suspected, and a red flag alert is in place for the area today.
There is a new fire near Divide that started yesterday afternoon – The Pump Station Wildland Fire; it’s only 160 acres in size. They have indeed closed a 1.2 mile stretch of the Big Hole from Silver Bridge to Divide Bridge for helicopter activities. Heads up.
