Summer’s here with the typical slowing of things overall, but it’s not nearly as blistering hot has last summer. There’s still plenty of fishing to be done as well.
Flows today at Island Park (0330) were 1110 cfs after a flow reduction yesterday.
The Box Canyon – nymphing well (run a double under an indicator), we hear Caddis pupa are the go to stuff. Skinny on the dry side.
Harriman and Last Chance – PMDs, Caddis (maybe a few rusty spinners and Callibaetis) are the go to bugs. Terrestrials are probably the strongest daytime player; run with an attractor dropper or take that siesta so you can hit the river at 7 or so and work the Caddis until way dark thirty.
Riverside CG to Ashton – if we were going to expend the effort today it would be hopper-dropper most of the day, and working whatever PMD/ Caddis you might see.
Ashton and Points Downstream – Caddis and terrestrials in higher flows to water the spuds, hops, and other crops. Bring the bug spray, sun screen, and a good hat.
