Since our update last week all restrictions in the Park were rescinded on the 22nd, and the rains that had stained the river noted last week have not reappeared.
Flows today (Flagg Ranch station) are 200 cfs at 0530, with today’s average 369 cfs; flows have been slowly dropping all week without any significant rains in the drainage.
Summer hatches have about run their course - best strategy on the Snake remains to watch for the waning PMDs hatches (very early), sporadic caddis hatches in the evenings, and otherwise prospect with small to mid size attractors and terrestials with nymph droppers. With fish podded up in the low flows - think about a wolly bugger with a bead head dropper through the deeper runs.
The run through Grand Teton National Park has more reasonable flows out of the dam, you might think about a Snake float through Grand Teton if you’re fishing this neck of the woods. This morning at Moran (below the dam) flows were up, running at 4430 cfs, with today’s average 3070 cfs.
There’s lots of water in the system down there, and flows have been steady at this level since the 21rst.
