The weather has certainly cooperated this week with those of us who have been wishing for an early arrival of the fall season. Since the Sunday of last weekend, we’ve been more cloudy than not and very pleasantly cool.
Jake and I were up in the northernmost part of the Park (Fan Creek) yesterday afternoon – it was in the 50s, breezy, with broken clouds spitting drizzle now and then. We both loaded waders in the truck for the first time in over two months. Where in the world did summer go?
The upcoming end of week and weekend looks great if you’re thinking of BWO hatches on cloudy, cool afternoons; the bow hunters headed out to chase elk this weekend for the opener are pretty happy about the forecast too.
Here’s what the weather gurus are predicting as of this morning –
West Yellowstone – 58 today with a 20% chance of rain, 62 Friday, 66 Saturday, and 62 Sunday. Lows tonight and Friday are predicted to reach 27 (hang on, hoppers), and it’s supposed to be mostly sunny after today.
Gardiner – 61 today with a 50% chance of rain, 63 Friday, 66 Saturday with a 30% chance of rain in the evening, and 65 Sunday with a 30% chance of rain. The cool nights will be tonight and Friday with lows in the high 30s.
Bozeman – 63 today with a 20% chance of rain, 66 Friday, 67 Saturday with a 20% chance of rain, and 65 Sunday with a 30% chance of rain.
Bottom line, the weather looks great – we’d be happy even with a few more clouds. Fleece and rain gear keep you on the water all day.
