We had a really nice day in the Park yesterday, fishing first the upper Gardner and then the upper Gibbon.  Water temps were near 60 when we got started, and we turned lots of little rainbows on small hoppers and attractors, even a few bigger boys rolled on a yellow parachute hopper of Jake’s.

One of the things that amazed us yesterday was how dry the Park is right now - the picture above looks like fall colors, and they are - though I suspect it’s as much due to things being quite dry right now as it has been to cool evenings.  Another thing that amazed us was how quickly it got warm yesterday - as I noted last night we saw low 80’s with skyrocketing water temps after lunch on the far reaches of the upper Gibbon, and it was still in the mid 80s as we came back through West about 5 (had to catch an event in Bozeman yesterday evening dang it).

Fall is coming, but it’s going to be a warm weekend and early next week.

The other thing that amazes us about the Park are all the incredible water and geothermal features - the bottom pic is a little warm spring flowing up out of a large (house sized) rock formation on the bank of the upper Gibbon - it’s probably under the water line in a normal flow year, but exposed now.  Don’f forget to look around and enjoy your surroundings out there….
