Starting this week we’re going to combine our Bechler and Fall River reports into a single report – they fish for the most part pretty similarly, and we wanted to add the Upper Snake river back into the report rotation as it’s been fishing so well this year.
We’ve heard that the cooler weather has slowed things down even more this past week, due no doubt in part to slowing down the terrestrial activity. Terrestrials will still be an option, particularly on the nicer days like are forecast at least for Monday and Tuesday of this next week. Bring the entire family – hoppers, beetles, ants, and bees.
Hatch wise the PMDs should be about done, though baetis, Gray Drakes, Mahoganies, Tricos, and Callibaetis should be in play pending the weather (read sun exposure) more than anything. We’d also be nymphing the heck out of the better runs if we were back in there today.
Frankly the Bechler and Fall may offer some of the finest September and early October dry fly fishing you’ll find in the Park and the entire region; it’s made even more special by the fact that you can’t park the car right there and fish.
If you have been in and fished the river, we will gladly credit you for information we can post in an update, please shoot us an email! As we get more data, we’ll provide better information to you.
