In some ways Bozeman seems to be the cultural center of the communities surrounding Yellowstone.  Home to Montana State University (picture above), Bozeman is also the largest of the Southwest Montana communities.  Bozeman offers up a plethora of activities year round, and in the fall season, the town settles into a cozy routine of school, work, and play.

September 9 brings the last Bogert Park Farmers Market of the season.  Beginning at 5 PM, local farmers, craftsmen, and artisans will showcase their wares.  Beautiful jewelry, wholesome garden grown vegetables, and stunning photographs are just a sampling at the goods for sale.  Come prepared with a pocketful of change and a full stomach – several vendors offer excellent food!

The night of September 12 brings the last Bozeman Art Walk of the season.  Galleries downtown will be open late, with special showings of their artwork.  Wine and dessert are often available in the various galleries, and the artwork is stunning.  As with the Livingston Art Walk we previously mentioned, the people watching is spectacular, and presents an effective rival to the art.

September 27 and 28, the Bozeman Symphony presents ‘Valse Nobles!’  Ravel’s playful jaunt through eight romantic waltzes is sure to please any music lover.  The program concludes with the stunning Fifth Symphony of Dmitri Shoshtakovich.  The performances are located in the Wilson Auditorium.

On October 1, do not miss the Hatch Film Festival, held in downtown Bozeman.  The festival includes screenings of ten feature films, ground-breaker films, and shorts.  Musical events, lounge areas, and a closing night awards ceremony are just a few of the festivities this fun and competitive festival.

Throughout the fall, many plays and musicals will be held at MSU’s Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.  From the comedy and musical talent of ‘Hairspray’ on November 3 to the songs and tragedy of ‘Oliver,’ there is selection of plays and musicals sure to please any and all theatre-goers.
