Don’t know about you, but the Park seemed pretty busy this past summer.  The more “mature” I get (I can see 50 on the horizon) the less tolerant I seem to be of moms driving minivans stopping in the middle of the road to take a picture a cow elk sleeping by the roadside or a bison meandering down the road (just like the several other dozen they’ve seen that day).  We have several colorful terms for this driving maneuver that I shan’t place in print.

Last week the Park released their summer visitation figures, and interestingly despite record high gasoline prices, June through August visitation was up 1.4% 2008 compared to 2007.  A total of 2,174,395 visitors toured the Park during those three months.

Year to date visitation for 2008 trails 2007 by 0.1%, but it’s going to be a great fall and I’d venture a bet that it will busier this fall than last.

Fishermen of all stripes love to see the summer crowds dispersing and the Park open back up a bit.  Amen.
