The Lamar (in fact basically all the waters in the northeast corner) continue to fish very well, and without a doubt currently offer some of the best dry fly fishing in the Park right now.  Crowds are down a bit, but you won’t be fishing along by any means over here.

For the past few days baetis have been the go to hatch; they’re pretty small (20,22), and we always do better on emergers than duns ourselves.  We also very much agree with the Madison River Outfitters guys in their report that using an indicator dry ahead of that small baetis can sure help in the flat light of the cloudy baetis days.

Terrestrials are still in play, bees, ants, and beetles more than hoppers on the sunny days, and make for decent prospecting when hatch activity is slight.  There are still some Drakes and Caddis too.

Flows today (0715) are 217 cfs, with today’s average 205 cfs at the gage near Tower Ranger Station.
