Jess and I had a chance yesterday to run up to the Firehole after lunch; we both got fed up with real life work chores and the non-stop talk about the bailout.
It was sunnier that we’d hoped, but BWOs were still sputtering off until about 4:30 - better in the cloud shade that in the sun of course. We covered about a mile wading down and swinging #18 and #20 soft hackle emergers over a few hours, and had a great day. Nothing over 12″ and a lot of small fish - but what a great way to leave reality behind for a few hours.
Jess (top pic) had a late date so we had to head back to Bozeman before the Caddis really got rolling, but they were just starting and are clearly still an option for you Firehole fanatics out there……
Looks like it’s raining in the drainage this morning - should be a great (and I mean great) BWO day……
