Reports from friends and from the guys at Park’s in Gardiner suggest that there are much better numbers of runners in the lower river, and the cool weather should push more up over the next week to10 days.

Sounds like streamers and large nymphs (stone, etc.) are producing the most action, though more than one nice brown has been caught on hoppers (still should be a few until the weekend) and big Royal Wulffs (from the master Craig Matthews himself).  There are some BWOs but with the resident population down so much after the mudslides (lower river) there just aren’t as many takers as you’re used to seeing.  Caddis are waning and probably not to really be counted on.

Upper river fishing is basically done with the arrival of the cool fall weather.

Flows were 135 cfs at 0245 (most current reading this morning), with today’s average 130 cfs.
