The Gardner now boasts very reasonable numbers of runners (browns and rainbows) up out of the Yellowstone.
The guys at Park’s in Gardiner are reporting plenty of 14-18” fish, and a neighbor over there last Friday had two over 22” during the afternoon (big ugly stone fly nymphs). Streamers are also in play, as are other big, buggy nymphs.
Still might see some BWO on the river too, pending sun and weather; terrestrials are a done deal at this point (for the most part), though a big attractor could draw some attention on this (and other Park waters).
The upper above Osprey falls is pretty much finished given the cold weather; everyone’s still concerned about the reduced numbers of resident fish given the slides this summer – here’s to a better year next year.
Flows were 120 cfs at 0645 (most current reading this morning), with today’s average 126 cfs.
