The Lamar this past week has fished pretty darned well after last weeks rain induced clarity issues resolved.
Flows measured near the Tower Ranger today at 0515 are 145 cfs, with today’s average 226 cfs. The rain induced spike last week peaked on the 6th, with flows back to baseline by the 9th.
You approach this week will be at least in part weather dependent, as we’ve been talking about the last few days.
On the sunnier and warmer days consider searching with small terrestials (hoppers, beetles, ants) and attractor nymph droppers. Running a hopper-dropper set should be productive for several more weeks, and is still fun on most days. Summer hatches are clearly winding down, though there might still be a few caddis around later in the day.
The Flavs are still around in pockets (later in the day with the cooler weather), and there are some Western Green Drakes above Cache Creek. BWOs should be making their presence felt on the cooler, overcast days.
