For fly fishing enthusiasts - Craig Matthews of West Yellowstone needs no introduction to anyone who’s fished the Park or read about Yellowstone’s wondrous collection of water and trout.

The Yellowstone Fly-Fishing Guide (written by Matthews and Clayton Molinero) is a no nonsense, practical guide to fishing the Park;  with loads of practical information that is for the most part very well organized.

This is one of those “real life guidebooks” that gets pulled off the shelf at least once a week to check some detail that I probably should remember, but don’t always.

We really like the icons providing summary information located the beginning of each water / river presented, and the details that follow in narrative form.

Don’t be put off by the fact that this guide was published in 1997 - Park waters are timeless in many respects, and the information about locations, access points, trailheads, distances, and terrain are obviously still quite good and accurate.

The achilles heel of any guidebook is recommendations regarding hatches and flies - that’s were a site like our comes into play.  The discussion of flies and hatches is as good as can be presented in guide book format.

This is another one of those timeless books that must be on your shelf if you’re interested at all in the Park, and want to learn more about this amazing area.
