Since our update last Monday the river has spiked and stained due to the showers in the area on Saturday and Sunday. Flows had been steady in the 200 cfs range until late on Saturday.
Flows today (Flagg Ranch station) are 264 cfs at 0430 , with today’s average 333 cfs. Flows had been pretty steady in the 190-200 range until the rains of the weekend really pushed them yesterday, and early this morning.
Your approach to the river will be for the most part weather dependent (after the clarity issues are settled in the next few days) - just like last week.
On the cooler, overcast days, consider starting off with a streamer or streamer / nymph set up in the deeper holes and runs. Baetis should make their midday appearance, and there still should be some caddis around in the afternoons.
On the sunnier, warmer days it still probably makes sense to start the day off with a streamer or streamer / nymph set up in the cool of the day, and then change over to a terrestrial (hopper, ant, beetle)/ dropper or small attractor / dropper set up to prospect with. Attractors and a double nymph set up would also be viable options. Time to downsize those terrestrials and attractors.
