For those of you fishing the Park this week and weekend, there will be an interesting angling opportunity developing in Montana a very reasonable drive north.

After just checking the Montana FWP webpage and seeing nothing noted about changes on the Big Hole, the Bozeman Daily Chronicle just posted this…..

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) — The Big Hole River in southwestern Montana is again open for fishing, from the mouth of the North Fork to the mouth near Twin Bridges.

The state fish and wildlife agency ordered a fishing closure Aug. 17, because low flows raised concern about stress on sensitive wild trout. State officials say flows improved significantly, with a recent change in the weather.

The Big Hole remains closed to fishing from Rock Creek Road above Wisdom to the mouth of the North Fork.

Flows will be down once the storm runoff from the weekend subsides, but it’s been weeks since folks have been legally fishing it - we’re probably headed over after a meeting this afternoon…..
