Continuing our series on BWO strategies….
Don’t put off downsizing that tippet and fly - we were on the Firehole a couple of weeks ago and casting small BWOs (20) to finicky, active risers, and not having much success. My drifts were pretty clean, the flies appropriate (emergers and later duns), but it just wouldn’t work.
I finally woke up and downsized to a 7x tippet from a 6x, put on a 24, took a deep breath, and caught fish. I know, it shouldn’t really make a difference, but sometimes going small makes the day. If I could only see the danged fly…..
The pic is from Wednesday on the Firehole….
