Continuing our series on Mahoganies….

As with most mayflies, mahoganies are very vulnerable during their emergence, and for some reason they tend to be long floaters before they fly off the water’s surface, often reported as 30 to 50 feet (off course water and weather dependent).  Those big wings take a bit of time to dry.

Hatch timing will vary of course pending water and weather, but most Mahogany hatches are between mid-morning and mid-afternoon, later on the cooler days.
