We’re happy to provide another Henry’s Fork update for our Yellowstone fishing friends - though we’re still biased a bit and think there’s probably better water in the Park of late.

This has been a very active fall for bears this year, atypically so - use the standard precautions and be attentive throughout the Island Park  corridor.

Flows were lowered again out of Island Park dam on the 3rd, 4th and 5th - and there’s still some junk (off color water and decaying moss) coming out of the very low reservoir.  Today’s flows are 178 cfs, with the average for today 472 cfs.  There’s not a lot of water in the sytem right now, but we agree with the majority opinion that some water needs to be held in reserve for the winter.

The Box Canyon - the Box is still suffering a bit with the silt and debris coming out of the lake; streamers and nymphs are the ticket here, though there’s better water to fish in this system right now.

Last Chance to Harriman - A little better this week with the cooler weather, though the low flows are making things a little tougher.  BWOs and Mahoganies (mid to late afternoon) as well as mayfly nymphs.  This is still big boy fishing, but fish are concentrated and clearly rising to dry flies.

Riverside CG to Ashton - We’d probably approach this with a streamer or streamer / nymph set up at this point, though double nymph rigs play well also.  BWOs and a few Mahoganies are the main hatch players right now, and were strong last week.

Ashton and Points Downstream - Improving a bit through the fall with baetis and mahoganies the main hatch players.  Streamers, nymphs, the standard approach.
