
Continuing our series on Mahoganies….
As is often the case, a few hours after these mayflies emerge, spinners start their dance, mate, and the females begin almost immediately oviposting eggs on the waters surface.
Mahogany spinners have a reasonably impressive difference in male and female coloration - males (unlike the uniformly reddish-brown females) have a dark thorax with a translucent appearing white abdomen.
Does it make a difference - maybe, maybe not - we tie our spinners both ways…..
