The Lewis River favoring locals are reporting browns moving into the channel and river in higher numbers than last week, though the catch rates of big fish out of Lewis Lake are pretty good right now and tempting a fair number of folks (black woolly buggers and zonkers).

River recommendations are a lot like last week - on the cooler mornings and evenings of a sunny day, we’d probably start with a streamer, streamer / nymph, or double nymph set up to prospect with, and either converting to a dry rig if there are obvious hatches, or consider a small attractor / dropper set up.  Frankly we’d probably nymph all day ourselves at this point.

In terms of the fall hatches, on the cooler days BWO/baetis will be increasingly prominent; midges (18-22) and caddis (mid to late afternoon) are dwindling, but there just might be some around.

Obviously streamers will be more and more useful as fall rolls on.
