Mahoganies - Another Great Fall Mayfly - Strategies Part 2
Continuing our series about strategies for Mahoganies….
When the duns are abundantly evident, we switch over to a Comparadun with a brown more than reddish body (mahogany) and a medium to dark wing (some of the Mahoganies in the Park seem to have a light colored wing). Our guide buddy likes a thorax style dry too, as well as GTs. Even when there are BWOs or other mayflies on the water, fish will sometimes key on this often larger bug relatively selectively.
A bit larger than BWOs, most of our local Montana and Yellowstone hatches are roughly a size 16.
