Mahoganies - Another Great Fall Mayfly - Strategies Part 2

Continuing our series about strategies for Mahoganies….

When the duns are abundantly evident, we switch over to a Comparadun with a brown more than reddish body (mahogany) and a medium to dark wing (some of the Mahoganies in the Park seem to have a light colored wing).  Our guide buddy likes a thorax style dry too, as well as GTs.   Even when there are BWOs or other mayflies on the water, fish will sometimes key on this often larger bug relatively selectively.

A bit larger than BWOs, most of our local Montana and Yellowstone hatches are roughly a size 16.
