
Continuing our series about strategies for Mahoganies….
A good friend who fishes Rock Creek in western Montana, as well as other rivers throughout Montana and the Park, has a different approach to fishing Mahogany dries. He notes that on Rock Creek, and several other waters in Montana and the Park, that BWO and Mahogany hatches may come off concurrently, or at least overlap for a time.
He claims to do well during these “overlap” hatches fishing a Mahogany and BWO dry at the same time, the Mahogany in front as the BWO is most often smaller.
Not commonly done, and yes, there will be a tangle or two, but another trick to tuck under your hat….
