After an unseasonably warm and sunny past week or 10 days (seems like forever doesn’t it?) - it looks like we’re due for a weather change this coming week that will decidely favor the fall fly fisherman.
Today and Tuesday look mostly sunny and warm for both West Yellowstone and Gardiner / Mammoth - with highs forecast to be 55 in West and 61 in Gardiner today, and just a degree or two cooler tomorrow.
Rain chances come into play Tuesday afternoon (20%) and evening (40%), and temps cool across the Park into the 40s for the rest of the week, with rain and snow chances in the 40 to 50% range through Friday (as of this morning’s forecast). Lows in the Park will be in the high 20s the later part of the week - this week (if the forecast is accurate) will truly provide more seasonable weather. No more shirt sleeve afternoons after Tuesday, and time to make sure your cold weather gear is in order.
Forecasts are made to be changed, and the weather service has overpredicted our last few weather systems - we should at least have cloud cover for several days starting on Wednesday, and that will not doubt improve fishing.
The good fishing we’ve enjoyed of late in the Park will just get better this week.
