The Lamar this past week has cleared after being muddy much of the week before.

Flows measured near the Tower Ranger today at 0615 are 240 cfs; and have been declining pretty steadily since the 12th, with a very minor increase note late yesterday and this morning due to the recent rains.

We ran into a guy yesterday who fished the Lamar on Tuesday - there were a few BWOs from about 1300 to 1500, but the hatch was patchy, bugs were small, and fish weren’t that active.  They were able to dredge a few nymphing in the riffle tail outs, but they had a pretty darn slow day overall.

One the cloudy, storm days due this week you might see a better BWO hatch, but there are several much more productive waters in the Park right now.

There won’t be crowds over here for obvious reasons, though you might see a bear or two - make sure to be alert and carry some bear spray.

Cold days make fishing in the NE corner even more of a challenge; we agree with the guys at Park’s Fly Shop in Gardiner this area is basically done for the year.
