Continuing our series on streamers…..
When fishing a streamer, there is another simple concept you must understand - the key issue of what does your streamer look like in the water?
This concept is tied into the ability to think like a fish that we talked about yesterday. Yesterday you were the baitfish, today - you’re a 24 inch hungry brown trout migrating out of Hegben Lake into the Madison.
Take out your favorite 5 streamers and look at them from behind - interestingly they will will look very much the same or even identical.
You as the target fish need a broadside look at the streamer to really recognize the streamer as a baitfish - this won’t happen with a down and across cast, drift, and slow retrieve upstream against the current.
So how do you maximize your broadside exposure to Mr. Brown - we’ll look at that tomorrow…
