What about a big, deep pool - what’s your best approach?
Try casting upstream and retrieving the fly back downstream to you. The key - swimming the fly faster than the current with strips, flips, and flicks - your fly should be surging ahead and then diving back toward the bottom when you pause your retrieve. This is a really good approach for sculpin and crayfish imitations - they’re notorious downstream runners when pursued or threatened, though make sure you’re fishing them on the bottom or very close.
