The brown runs on the Lewis and Upper Snake have been active this year, and as the Lewis fans know, this run in particular is one of the most dense around. There are some impressive fish in the meadows sections of the Lewis that see much less fishing pressure - it can get you out of the crowds…..
The Upper Snake in the Park really blew out with last weekend’s storm, but after the very impressive peak on the 20th (at almost 14oo cfs after running in the mid 200s all fall), flows are settling and we hear that black woolly buggers, dark egg sucking leeches and standard leeches, big Princes, and SJ worms are working very well down there.
A friend wandered up Nez Pearce the other day and had a 20+ fish afternoon, nothing huge, but they caught one of those lingering, slow evolving BWO hatches and slayed ‘em on small flymphs (baetis).
