The Lamar has been off much of the week due to the effects of last weekend’s storm, and yesterday’s record setting warmth has pushed more snow melt runoff into the system overnight.

Flows measured near the Tower Ranger today at 0615 are 469 cfs; and had been slowly settling since the big rain/ snow spike on the 20th - though flows have increased 150 cfs in the past 8 hours (snow melt).

Prestorm there were a few baetis around, and reports of guys working very hard on the sunny days and connecting using small attractor dries flawlessly presented and fished, no doubt with the river dirty hatches have been rare.

As she clears you might argue that dragging a SJ worm or big black bugger or leech through the runs could be worthwhile - and it might.

There won’t be crowds over here for obvious reasons, though you might see a bear or two - make sure to be alert and carry some bear spray.

Cold days (like are due again in the next few) make fishing in the NE corner even more of a challenge; we agree with the guys at Park’s Fly Shop in Gardiner this area is basically done for the year, and we don’t plan to head back.

If you do choose to fish over here you might see a bear or two - make sure to be alert and carry some bear spray.
