The Firehole has offered up another great fishing week despite the sun and warmer temps.  We were on ourselves yesterday and brought to hand several of the nicest Firehole fish of the season for us - both browns and ‘bows.   Working the weedbeds in the deeper channel paid off handsomely.

The Firehole’s flow rate today at 0600 near Madison junction was 274 cfs, with today’s mean 278 cfs.  Flows have been stable all week after a rain and snow peak on the 20th of almost 550 cfs.

The bright sun shining much of this week has slowed the prodigious baetis hatches at times, though there have been very decent numbers of bugs on the water roughly from 1300 - 1500, and we did very well yesterday with soft hackles swung pre-emergence.

The caddis have been decent this week;  one of our mentors (Mister Ed) did quite well working the late afternoon caddis hatch on Wednesday in Biscuit Basin, and there are still plenty of midges around for those so inclined.

We’ve not heard much detail about the lowermost section of the river - though action has been very good around the confluence.
