The Gardner has had a good week in the relatively mild weather - yesterday’s rains don’t seem to have impacted flows a great deal.
Flows overall have been pretty darn steady this past week - flows this morning are 100 cfs at 0330, with today’s average 122 cfs.
BWOs have been decent again this week; though the active hatch window continues to narrow, and the sun doesn’t make for the best BWO day. Don’t forget to think about swinging small soft hackle emergers before the hatch or during a slow, stuttering hatch. We spent time on the river on Saturday, and didn’t see any caddis - they should be about done by this time.
If we were fishing the river today, we’d still be nymphing, and I think that’s what the Park’s Fly Shop guys are pitching now too - they know the water better than anyone else. A double nymph set up, or streamer / nymph set up make sense too. We’d also be working the lower sections of the river.
