The Madison River in the Park has fish decently again this week - good days and slow days as has been it’s character this fall. 

Flows today near West Yellowstone are 377 cfs at 0515, with the average for today 423 cfs; flows have settled after a rain and snow induced spike on the 30th/31st.

If you’re after the big one on the Madison, streamers are still probably your best bet - we know it’s not very sexy, but olive Woolly Buggers / Sparkle Buggers and SJ worms have been producing well again this week, as have Zonkers.  We’re headed to the Madison today ourselves and will be pitching streamers after the big guys…

The nymph crowd is still doing well also, as are the soft hackle adherents.  Swinging a small mayfly type soft hackle in tandem with a larger nymph (eg - bigger GRHE) has been productive too.

Finally - the dry fly crowd has still been playing with the mid to late afternoon BWOs, though the caddis haven’t been as prevalent this week - it’s getting on a bit in the season.

We’re always amazed that the final days aren’t very heavily fished - there’s still some great fishing to be done on the Madison over the weekend.
