Published in this week’s issue of Science is a report from a team at the University of Utah studying volanic activity in Yellowstone.  It appears the floor of the caldera has risen something close to 3 inches per year each of the past three years. 

While there are folks out there who will think volcanic eruption when they hear this kind of data, the geologists among us seem to yawn and describe once again how it’s not really that big of a deal.
