We just got a heads up email regarding the Bechler River report we posted yesterday.
For you hardy types you have been thinking about heading in there any time soon, there apparently has been a pesky black bear hanging around campsite 9B2. All of Yellowstone is prime bear country, but in these more remote areas with less traffic your odds of seeing a black or griz goes up a bit. The fact that to access the Bechler requires a pretty early start, especially if you’re trying to get in and out in one day, makes a bear encounter even more likely.
If you don’t know much about standard bear precautions - visit the YNP website, and we’ll post a summary of bear precautions here for reference within a few days.
