The congressional delegations of Idaho, Montana and Wyoming on Wednesday urged in a joint letter National Park Service Director Mary Bomar to continue allowing snowmobiles in Yellowstone and Grand Teton parks.  The letter was written as park administrators are set to adopt a new winter management plan for the two parks in coming days.

Their letter was meant to counter a push by others in Congress to outlaw snowmobiles in the two parks;  last month, 86 lawmakers - none from the three Yellowstone states - asked Bomar to limit motorized winter travel to trips aboard guided snowcoaches.  The NPS powers on high should be announcing something soon…

The Wyoming delegation is particularly interested as Cody stands to potentially not have winter access to the Park if indeed the plans to close the East Entrance come to fruition.

The pic is of Wyoming senator Enzi, who looks like he’s ready to take on any interlopers…….
