A new YNP fire - the Columbine Fire - started southwest of Sylvan Pass in the Columbine drainage Thursday evening by a passing thunderstorm, ran to over a 1000 acres today despite the efforts of a West Yellowstone smoke jumper team dropped this morning.

Given the very dry timber status in the Park and this fire’s aggressive behavior, a Type 2 Incident Management Team has been called in and will apparently take over the fire either late today or in the morning.  If you’re fishing in the Park this weekend, you’ll no doubt see this fire column.
