We must admit, we’ve been bitten recently by the bamboo bug, and have been searching for references on repair and restoration of bamboo rods.  Having built glass (for bass fishing relatives) and graphite rods for years, there are principles that are similar but many features of bamboo management are more different that you’d ever guess.

Michael Sinclair has again released his classic Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook - one of the essential works on the subject.  We have found the book to have one of if not the most complete guides ever put together for detailing specifications of original bamboo rods.

He also very thoroughly addresses identifying the maker & era of unmarked rods, stripping old varnish and finishes, salvaging original labels & hardware, new hardware selection, rewrapping, finish applications, general conditioning, and much more.

Even if you’re not a bamboo fanatic this book is one of the ultimate references on the topic, it would be a great addition to your library as we may not have a shot at this again (it’s self published, and the second printing has just recently been released).
