Continuing our series on midges….

We’ve already made reference to the mating clusters of adult midges that trout often tend to key in on when they’re present.  The venerable Renegade, Griffith’s Gnat, and Sprout Midge patterns are the most oft used, and have been fooling trout around the world for years.  Simple to tie and fish (OK, they might be a bit hard to see sometimes) - at least one of these should be in your box.

We’ve been tying them for years in 10-22, though find that we hardly use anything larger than a 16 anymore, and very often end up using a 20 or 22 on the waters we fish around home.
