The U.S. Forest Service has reopened the Beattie Gulch area near Gardiner and just north of the Park, which had been closed since October after two hunters were mauled by a grizzly bear (or bears).
The closure affected a strip of national forest between Yellowstone National Park and public lands; Montana’s big game hunting season in this district closed on Sunday, and the Forest Service reports their belief that most bears have denned up at this time.
Wonder if anybody’s headed back in there this week, we really don’t have that much snow down right now, even with today’s light snow….
