The Gibbon River has some fishable water at this point, but in our opinion you should only be fishing the headwaters above Norris.

The Gibbon River below Gibbon Falls is one of the many Yellowstone waters under special regulations right now - basically the river below Gibbon Falls is closed from 2 PM to 5 AM, and frankly we don’t think you should be fishing it at all - this one of the several very stressed fisheries right now in the Park.

The best strategy if you have to fish the Gibbon right now is to fish the smaller pocket water above the falls, and more reasonably above Norris with attractors and small terrestials.  There are waning PMD and evening caddis hatches.

Ideally, let this lady rest until the fall.
