We’ve been trying to dig up an update on the Columbine Fire this evening, and the National Fire Incident Web Database (inciweb.org) is down - I’ll bet traffic has crashed their server with all that’s going on in the area these days.
From the latest update by the Park the East Entrance road remains closed. The Park has been warning about heavy traffic in the Fishing Bridge area today - tourists will stop to take pictures of a chipmunk sneezing - any bigger mammal sends them sprinting off into the brush with their cell phone camera at the ready - imagine what a distraction a bustling fire camp is.
From the flyover this morning the fire perimeter was reported to be within 1/2 mile of Sylvan Pass, and they were working on structure protection along the eastern border of the Park. It was 98 in Bozeman today after 101 yesterday, these temps aren’t helping.
Bottom line - I wouldn’t go fish the Shoshone in the next few days, and we’ll update with something meaningful when we can.
