We’ve been skiers for a long time, but still reach first for the snowshoes every fall when the snow starts to fall - we were snowshoeing here in Bozeman before Thanksgiving this year. 
Superb exercise, great for snow bound river approaches, and just plain fun, you don’t need a lift pass or a long drive to a ski area to enjoy these - just strap ‘em on and go.
